Recently, my husband called and said there was someone coming to look at our house.
I had 15 minutes to get it in a somewhat presentable order.
I flew up off the couch with my stepson and we both started throwing stuff under the beds, in the dishwasher, and in cupboards.
Let me tell you, your house is never more disgusting than when you know someone is going to be looking at it.
And in case you’re thinking we live in filth, we don’t. But we have an indoor pig, a 100 lb indoor dog, 3 kids, 2 adults, and busy schedules.
I think most people can understand that things aren’t always perfect around here.
And I’m guessing it’s the same in your home.
A Clean Home Is Not Always The Top Priority
Realistically, we have things in our lives that are substantially more important than a clean house.
Family, jobs, obligations, fun. All these things can take your motivation to have a spotless house on the back-burner.
And rightfully so.
But I don’t wan’t to forget that motivation I felt to keep my house more presentable that I felt when I knew I had 15 minutes to whip it into shape.
The trick is holding on to that motivation. Even now, 2 days removed, I feel more blasé about it than I did in the moment.
